Borderlands 4 Update 1.8: Release Date, Zane DLC, and Cross-Save Detailed

Gearbox and 2K have just detailed what’s coming in version 1.8 of *Borderlands 4*, scheduled for release on June 25, 2026. The update balances paid season pass content with free additions for the endgame, alongside a technical feature that the community has been asking for quite a bit. The main addition for anyone who bought the Deluxe editions or the pass is *Bounty Pack 3*, titled "A Zane to Kill For." The premise of the narrative mission is kind of curious: you enter a virtual arcade simulation with a neon aesthetic to find out who murdered Zane's Digi-Clone. It’s content designed to be replayed, featuring two mini-bosses and a main boss. Along with it comes *Vault Card 3*, which works like the previous ones—there are 24 cosmetics to unlock and four pieces of gear with attributes you can reroll until you find a decent combination for your build. For those who didn't buy the paid content, the free update introduces a new endgame-focused Raid: *Takedown at Hadron Abyss*. The setting is an underwater research station infested with enemies. From what’s been shared, the run will require fighting through normal hordes, a mid-way mini-boss, and a final fight against the "Child of Terramorphous." If you manage to finish it, the game promises to reward you with new Legendary weapons and some Pearlescent rarity drops. You can go solo if you have a really solid build, but usually, this type of activity works better in a group. Another important point, perhaps the most practical one in this patch, is the arrival of definitive Cross-Save across all platforms via the SHiFT account. This means you'll be able to move your progress between PC, PS5, Xbox Series, and the Nintendo Switch 2 without much hassle. It’s just worth noting that rewards claimed directly through SHiFT, like Golden Keys, usually stay locked to the platform where you first redeemed them. Looking a bit further ahead, their schedule seems pretty set for the coming months. Version 1.9 is expected on July 30, bringing *Bounty Pack 4* (Murders & Acquisitions). After that, in early September, *Story Pack 2* arrives alongside *Bounty Pack 5*, which should introduce Loveless, the new hacking-focused Vault Hunter. On paper, the update cadence looks good, though we'll have to see how the balancing of these new weapons and challenges actually plays out.
