DLC Done Right vs DLC Done Wrong(Vendetta OVERWATCH 2 VS MIARY ZHAO TEKKEN 8)

**Overwatch 2’s Vendetta vs Tekken 8’s Miary Zhao — An Honest Take From a Hardcore Fan, DLC: When It Elevates the Game… and When It Just Exists** Let’s be real for a second: Some DLCs respect the player. Some DLCs feel meaningful. ![v](https://i.imgur.com/mfyw0Gr.png) Some DLCs expand the universe. And others? They just… take up space. ![v](https://i.imgur.com/NDX6onO.jpeg) In the middle of a very crowded gaming year, we happened to get two perfect examples at the same time — one showing how DLC should be done, and one showing why some DLCs leave a bad taste. <script async src="https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-7472214434062426" crossorigin="anonymous"></script> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:block; text-align:center;" data-ad-layout="in-article" data-ad-format="fluid" data-ad-client="ca-pub-7472214434062426" data-ad-slot="2708104520"></ins> <script> (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); </script> Today we compare: **DLC Done Right: Overwatch 2 – Vendetta** **DLC Done Wrong: Tekken 8 – Miary Zhao** **DLC Done Right: Overwatch 2’s Vendetta** Vendetta is one of the rare DLC characters that immediately feels meaningful. What makes her work? 1. Her story matters. Vendetta isn’t random. She is the daughter — biological or adoptive, doesn’t matter — of Antonio Bartalotti, the arms dealer Reaper executed during a Blackwatch operation. We see him protecting her, we hear her calling him “Papa”, and that emotional thread gives her real weight. Overwatch actually took a background NPC from an old mission… and continued his story through her. That’s world-building done right. 2. She’s genuinely fun to play. Her kit is energetic, stylish, fluid — the moment you control her, she clicks. She feels alive. She feels exciting. 3. She actually adds value. Vendetta brings personality, context, and gameplay fun. That’s the holy trinity of good DLC. **DLC Done Wrong: Tekken 8’s Miary Zhao** Let me start by saying: Yes — I tried her. Properly. Not five minutes. Not “touch-and-complain.” And a lot of people who said, “I don’t like her,” are now saying, “You know what, she’s not bad.” That’s fine for them. But I’m not one of those guys. She’s not terrible. She’s not broken. She’s not offensive. She’s just… unnecessary. There’s no emotional backbone. No lore significance. No impact. Nothing that makes the Tekken world richer. And yes — I’m not dumb. I know where this is going. When you introduce a “successor” character that clearly hints at a mythological direction… When you start building around spiritual connections… <script async src="https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-7472214434062426" crossorigin="anonymous"></script> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:block; text-align:center;" data-ad-layout="in-article" data-ad-format="fluid" data-ad-client="ca-pub-7472214434062426" data-ad-slot="4951124482"></ins> <script> (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); </script> Let’s be honest: **Season 3 will probably bring Ogre.** It’s obvious. The signs are all there. And trust me, I’ll be the first to celebrate when Aztec Ogre walks into Tekken 8 with modern graphics — that’s a DLC I want. But even with Ogre likely coming… Miayzawa still doesn’t feel necessary. Not as a DLC. Not as a roster addition. Not when Tekken has so many legends sitting on the bench. Characters I Would Have Preferred 1,000 Times More Let’s talk about this, because this is the part that stings: There are SO MANY legacy characters who deserved that slot. Bob I miss Bob so much. His cheesy, overconfident personality — the overweight American guy who moves like a ninja — was iconic. He always made me smile. One of my personal favorites. Miguel Come on. Miguel is just cool. Yes, people joked about his tiny T-rex arms, but Miguel has style, attitude, and presence. He brings energy. He brings character. Marduk One of my absolute favorites. Perfect rival to King. Massive presence. Brutal, intense, fun — Marduk is pure Tekken. Julia (and by extension Ganryu) A true legacy character. Heart, history, importance — her return would’ve felt natural and rightful. Lei Wulong This one hurts. Lei Wulong isn’t just a character, he's a Tekken Jackie Chan. Stances, humor, creativity — who doesn’t love Jackie Chan? Lei is iconic, stylish, and beloved. And that’s the point. Miary Zhao isn’t bad as she is fun to play with her dodges and her pole stance is cool but: **She’s just not who the community needed.** Not when the roster is full of missing legends who carry decades of emotional connection. **Final Thoughts — and a Little Extra Honesty** Vendetta brings story, depth, continuity, and fun. Miary Zhao brings… hints for future DLC, maybe — but nothing with weight. <script async src="https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-7472214434062426" crossorigin="anonymous"></script> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:block; text-align:center;" data-ad-layout="in-article" data-ad-format="fluid" data-ad-client="ca-pub-7472214434062426" data-ad-slot="4951124482"></ins> <script> (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); </script> And before anyone accuses me of being “too harsh,” let me end with this: Do you know a character I still despise more than Miayzawa? **Lucky.** **Chloe.** She can stay exactly where she is right now. Forever. And I think the entire community will unite, just this once, and agree with me: **Nobody misses Lucky Chloe.**
