Monster Hunter Stories First impressions( Try it or ignore it)

Since I paid for the PS Plus service, I've been exploring it and want to make the most of it. Along with my research, by the way, they are putting old games with tissues!!! I will post more about that, considering it a step in the right direction for the older games. Back to where I was, I saw a section I knew was there but never had reasons to dig deeper into. The section mentioned would be the Trials, where you have 3 hours to play the game without buying it. ![v](https://i.imgur.com/j3hB1a6.png) However, to access it, you need a PREMIUM subscription, which most people don't have. I will post about some games in that section so you can decide if they are for you or not. Today's game is Monster Hunter Stories, a Remake of the first Monster Hunter that is fully voice-acted, which wasn't the case in the original game. ![v](https://i.imgur.com/O9x5Sww.jpeg) First, the game looks beautiful. The colors are vibrant, and I like the style they chose. Here is my created character, MELISSA: ![v](https://i.imgur.com/jRb7CxW.jpeg) Yes, you can create your character as you wish. The customization is essential, but the armor they offer is varied and distinct from one another. You can even customize your cat partner's appearance. ![v](https://i.imgur.com/Stfq9sf.jpeg) I will separate what I like from what I don't: What I like: 1. As mentioned before, the graphics look vibrant and engaging. 2. The customization aspect, although limited, is good. 3. For the 3 hours I played, each monster had a unique combo attack that looked like cinema, which I always praise for the effort. 4. The game has a good sense of world-building as the 3 hours I played were in the village because Melissa was training to be a Rider, which is a title to go out and explore the world. The game does it right, portraying a little boy or girl getting out of his comfort zone and stepping into the real world. 5. The combat system is easy to get into but challenging to master, as the premise is you need to counter by guessing what your opponent will do at his turn. As a turn-based RPG, you need to plan your attack before the opponent's turn, as in this game, there are only three elements: POWER, TECHNIQUE, and SPEED. Your job is to try to guess which one your opponent will use. It gets more complex, but it's never convoluted or boring. What I don't like: 1. There are Too many cat puns like it's nonstop with almost every character you encounter; it gets annoying quickly. When you meet a cat that lets you use fast travel, you will start to hate cats or at least look at them sideways... 2. As it is a Remake, I would expect fewer filler missions like collecting an X amount of this to create that PS2 trope, with no indicator of where to find it, which may take hours if you don't want tips on how to do it. It became tedious after a while. 3. The characters are cliche, which I don't mind, but Lilia, for example, was just too much with her annoying talk all the time. Keep in mind that this is everything I gathered after 3 hours. 4. The side missions are boring, as usual, but I will cut some slack as it is a Remake of an old game. Still, I don't like it. Overall, I liked it, and as a 30-dollar game, I say it is worth it as I wanted to play more and will buy the game . If you have more suggestions, leave them in the comments.
