Hunter x Hunter Nen Impact looks basic but promising.

I haven't posted on this page for some time because nothing excited me enough to talk to you guys. I want to play Sandland before talking about it, as it is one of my most anticipated games for 2024. I just saw the Hunter x Hunter Nen Impact and have some things I would like to share. Hunter X Hunter is one of my Top 10 animes of all time, so of course, I was excited to play a game related to the anime. I also knew it would be a fighting game, which has been my favorite genre for many years. After I saw the gameplay, I was surprised but disappointed at the same time. Let me explain: First off, It doesn't look like a modern game at all, more like a Wii game BUT, and that's a BIG BUT, the combat mechanics remind me a lot of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, one of the best fighting games ever. The mastermind behind it is **Eighting**, known for making incredibly compelling fighting games with low budgets. The combat mechanics look very solid for a fighting game. For example, it has air dashes, chain assists, installs( when a character transforms and gets different properties ), reversals, and more of what makes a solid fighting experience. It's a 3v3, which I don't mind, BUT IT ONLY HAS 16 CHARACTERS IN TOTAL. For a 3v3, that is not the play, in my opinion. The stages look basic, but maybe it's because it is too soon, as they haven't announced a launch date yet. If they improve the graphics, increase the roster, and add more variety in the stages regarding visuals, this can potentially be a Dragon Ball Fighter Z situation, where the game explodes. Everyone and their moms are playing it. The reason was that Dragon Ball is a universally beloved IP, the game looked gorgeous, and they continued to add beloved characters with different playstyles, which always spiced up the gameplay for a couple of years. Imagine if Hunter x Hunter Nen Impact gets the same treatment, they don't need to blow their budget on graphics but I do think that they DO NEED to up them a little as the gameplay which is the bread and butter already looks stellar. I am afraid of one crucial thing in these games that I know most people don't care about, but I do, especially in a big Anime Franchise. That thing is Story Mode, please don't be just a couple of slides, I cannot describe how much I hate that, it's lazy AF and just middle finger to the fans like" Yey, you got Story Mode, are you happy now?". Due to the budget being low, I will give it a pass, BUT at least I hope we get to do something different, like interacting with fan favorites or having side missions related to different characters; you get the idea. Overall, I must be honest: I like what I see as a fighting game fan and the Anime itself. It looks rough, but the meat of a good fighting game is there. It has a ton of potential.
